I apologize for not writing in German. I am searching for my family that were from Prussia.
August Hinz born approximately 1893 in Gross Marienwalde Prussia. His parents were Carl August Hinz and Henrietta Mach (Born 1836 in Treten, Rummelsburg, Promern, Prussia). He had a brother or cousin Wilhelm Hinz born 1862 in Germany. I don't know if Gross Marienwalde is East or West Prussia.
Does anyone know where the town of Gross Marienwalde, Prussia is today? I think it's in Poland now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kristin,
Gross Marienwalde was located in the county of "Elchniederung". Now this region (Northern East Prussia) is Russian (Oblast Kaliningrad), it is not Polish. Many villages in this region are no more existing. You may find some information here:
