Trakehnen – The paradise of horses

Public Sunday tour with Katja Eichhorn on Sunday, November 3, 2024, 2 p.m. 1,50 € plus museum entrance fee

The Trakehner mare TSF Dalera :BB is a four-time Olympic champion and currently the
most successful dressage horse in the world. Her ancestors come from the former
largest stud farm in Germany in Trakehnen and from private breeders in
East Prussia.
In the Sunday tour, Katja Eichhorn guides you through the Trakehner section of the
museum and shows where the mare’s performance ideals originated.
Dalera’s sporting successes prove that the traditional Trakehner
horse breed, the oldest riding horse breed in Germany and an intangible
cultural heritage since 2022, has stood the test of time and is far more than just a
myth. The main stud farm Trakehnen was the source and center of
East Prussian horse breeding. The horse paradise of Trakehnen has a very special ring to it for
horse breeders and riders. Memories are
awakened of the land of horses, which became the epitome of horse breeding.
The effects of the war meant that the work of over two
centuries of consistent performance breeding under the most ideal conditions
was almost completely destroyed. Nevertheless, the successful and noble
riding horse breed has survived to this day as a pure breed.
